What you'll need to succeed
1-3 years hands-on experience in machine learning, AI systems, or software development.
Proficiency in building and running AI models (multi-step, multi-model, autonomous workflows).
Experience with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, DynamoDB, ECS, Docker).
Familiarity with prompt engineering for scalable, cost-aware AI systems.
Knowledge of IaC with Terraform and CI/CD practices with GitHub.
Understanding of moderation stack components like classifiers, guardrails, and output filters.

About the Job
Join Aiba, an AI product company dedicated to making online communities safer and more trustworthy. We are building the 'Amanda Moderation Platform' leveraging in-house and open-source AI models on AWS to combat harmful behavior. As a Junior AI/ML Engineer, you'll be an integral part of a small, fast-moving team, operating directly within the AI layer of our product. This role is perfect for someone eager to design, optimize, and scale AI solutions that have a real-world impact on digital safety, working in a hybrid or remote setup.
Your Responsibilities
As a Junior AI/ML Engineer, you will be at the forefront of optimizing our AI infrastructure for performance, cost, and safety, specifically focusing on:
Model Development
Build and run multi-step, multi-model, autonomous AI workflows, and fine-tune models for specific moderation use cases.
AI Optimization
Design cost-aware prompt systems for high-quality, high-volume operations and ensure efficient token utilization.
Moderation Stack
Develop and integrate moderation stack components including classifiers, guardrails, and output filters.
Continuous Improvement
Continuously retrain, fine-tune, and improve models powering our moderation tool.
Performance Monitoring
Monitor model performance, drift, bias, and inference costs in production on AWS Bedrock.
Unified Operations
Operate both in-house trained and open-source models within a unified serving layer.
Who You Are
We value practical experience and a proactive attitude. The ideal candidate will possess:
Experience
1-3 years of hands-on experience in machine learning, AI systems, or software development, with a proven track record of building and shipping solutions. A background in computer science or data science is a plus.
AI/ML Expertise
Experience with structured prompting, few-shot learning, and cost-aware design for AI models. Familiarity with AWS Bedrock and open-source model hosting.
Cloud & MLOps
Experience with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, DynamoDB, ECS, Docker) and AIOps tools (Eval pipelines, MLflow).
Infrastructure & CI/CD
Experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code and GitHub for CI/CD practices.
Problem Solver
Hungry to learn, able to handle ambiguity, hands-on, and proactive in problem-solving. Not afraid to ask questions.
