What you'll need to succeed

3-5 years of professional experience as an AI/ML Engineer.

Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript for developing and deploying AI solutions.

Practical expertise with Generative AI models, RAG, and modern agentic systems.

Demonstrated experience with MLOps practices and deploying AI models to production.

Hands-on experience with RAG, LLMs, and PostgreSQL.

About the Role

As an ML/AI Engineer at Aptide, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative AI solutions that empower Norwegian municipalities. You'll work on a platform dedicated to data-driven administration and responsible AI, directly addressing critical resource challenges in the public sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in machine learning and generative AI to create impactful tools that streamline processes, enhance decision-making, and free up capacity for what truly matters to citizens. You'll contribute to a single, integrated platform built with a strong emphasis on Norwegian values, compliance, privacy, and full traceability, ensuring our solutions are safe, auditable, and aligned with the AI Act's requirements.

Key Responsibilities & Impact

What You'll Do

Your day-to-day will involve a blend of challenging and rewarding tasks:

Platform Ownership

Take ownership of core parts of our AI platform alongside the existing team, from document understanding and drafting to retrieval, reasoning, and data analysis.

Develop AI Frameworks

Help build out our Agentic Reasoning Framework (ARF) and Knowledge & Retrieval Architecture (KRA) into a fully metadata-driven, evaluable system where authority, relevance, and provenance are first-class.

Lead Explainable AI

Help lead our work on explainable AI — making every answer traceable from question to claim to source, with reasoning paths users can inspect, challenge, and trust.

Build Knowledge Graph

Design and build the knowledge graph layer that captures how public-sector information actually connects — laws, decisions, plans, and reports referencing each other — and turn it into something the system can reason over.

Pioneer Learning Loops

Pioneer learning loops between municipalities — patterns, classifications, and improvements that travel across customers without their data doing so.

MLOps & Evaluation

Establish and maintain MLOps and evaluation pipelines to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable deployment of AI solutions into production environments.

AI Innovation

Continuously explore new AI technologies and methodologies, embracing frequent iteration to stay at the forefront of native AI engineering.

Ensure Compliance & Privacy

Integrate privacy-by-default and traceability principles into all development phases, adhering to European infrastructure and AI Act standards.

Optimize Performance & Scale

Monitor and optimize the performance of deployed models, contributing to a scalable, high-quality, and trusted software architecture.
